How Can Counselling Help?
For individuals
1:1 therapy session
Psychological therapy offers a confidential, structured environment for individuals seeking to improve their mental health, emotional well-being, and overall quality of life. We work with everyday people who may be facing situational stress, emotional overwhelm, or long-standing concerns affecting their mood, behaviour, or relationships.
Our clients include those experiencing clinically diagnosable mental health conditions—such as anxiety disorders, depression, or trauma—as well as those navigating non-clinical mental health difficulties, including work-related stress, relationship strain, identity concerns, or life transitions.
We recognise that mental health exists on a spectrum, and that support can be beneficial at any stage, whether someone is managing a diagnosed condition or facing life’s everyday challenges.
People often seek therapy for support with:
-
Anxiety, social anxiety, or panic symptoms
-
Depression or low mood
-
Grief and loss
-
Adjustment difficulties
-
Burnout or emotional fatigue
-
Sleep disturbances
-
Cross-cultural stress and identity conflict
-
Women’s health issues, including perinatal and postnatal concerns
Counselling Services in Perth
Anxiety Counselling
Anxiety can affect your thoughts, emotions, relationships, sleep and everyday activities.
Counselling can help you better understand anxiety and develop strategies for managing worry, fear, panic and avoidance.
Depression Counselling
Depression can involve more than feeling sad. You may experience low motivation, loss of interest, fatigue, changes in sleep or difficulty feeling connected to the things that normally matter to you.
Psychological support can help you explore contributing factors and develop strategies for improving mood and functioning.

Ongoing workplace, relationship or personal pressures can leave you feeling mentally and emotionally exhausted.
Counselling provides an opportunity to understand your sources of stress, strengthen boundaries and develop more sustainable ways of managing competing demands.

Grief can follow bereavement as well as separation, relationship changes and other significant losses.
There is no single way to experience grief. Counselling provides a confidential environment in which you can process your experience at a pace appropriate for you.

Bilingual Psychology provides relationship counselling for couples experiencing communication difficulties, conflict, emotional disconnection, trust concerns and significant relationship transitions.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Do I need a referral to see a counsellor or psychologist?
No referral is required to access our services. You are welcome to self-refer. However, if you wish to claim a Medicare rebate, you will need a Mental Health Care Plan from your GP.
What's the difference between a psychologist and counsellor?
Psychologist is a regulated professional title in Australia. Registered psychologists must meet registration requirements set by the Psychology Board of Australia. Counselling describes a type of support that may be provided by psychologists as well as other appropriately trained professionals.
What can I talk about in counselling?
Counselling can address a wide range of emotional, psychological and life concerns. You don't need to have a diagnosed mental health condition to seek professional support.
Can I claim a Medicare rebate?
Yes. If your GP provides you with a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP), you may be eligible for a Medicare rebate of $98.95 per session (as of 1st July 2025). This rebate applies to a portion of our standard fee of $183 per session.
Please note: Rebate amounts are reviewed annually and may change.
Can I use my private health insurance?
Yes. Depending on your level of cover, you can claim your sessions through your private health insurer. We will provide a receipt after each session for your claim.
Please note: You cannot claim both Medicare and private health for the same appointment.
Do you accept insurance claims?
Yes. We accept referrals through approved insurance claims, including ICWA, Motor Vehicle Accidents, and Workers Compensation (state and federal). Once your claim is approved, no out-of-pocket payment is required.
Do you offer concession rates?
We are a private psychology practice and do not offer bulk-billed appointments. However, under certain circumstances, concession fees can be discussed and may be offered at the psychologist’s discretion.
What happens if I need to cancel my appointment?
We understand that unexpected things happen. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please provide at least 24 hours’ notice. Late cancellations (less than 24 hours’ notice) or missed appointments will incur a $80 cancellation fee.
Are sessions available in different languages?
Yes. We provide services in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese, to support clients from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
